An energy warning cone that had been found damaged on a pedestrian sidewalk near Hamamyolu Street—one of the busiest areas in Eskişehir has been repaired.
The cone, located on Yalbı Street in the Hamamyolu district—one of the city’s most crowded spots had been installed as a safety measure in place of a decorative street lamp. However, it was damaged by unknown individuals. As a result, live electrical cables inside the cone, which carried warnings such as “Caution: High Voltage” and “Danger: Risk of Death,” became exposed.
The yellow warning cone, which posed a serious risk to nearby pedestrians, was repaired by teams from Osmangazi Electricity Distribution Inc. (OEDAŞ), significantly reducing the potential danger.
In a statement regarding the incident, OEDAŞ noted:
“The energy warning cone in question was installed to ensure the safety of citizens’ lives and property, with its yellow color and warning signs. It is also used temporarily to protect underground lighting cables. Following damage first to the lighting pole and then to the warning cone, our teams carried out the necessary repairs, minimizing the potential hazard.”
